You are what you eat.

It's a simple yet powerful statement. In several fields of science the evidence is mounting, and we now know that there are factors which influence our genes to determine our biochemical destiny. Among the most important of those factors is the food we eat. In simple terms, then, great health starts with great food, and it is this belief that inspired Veronica Porterfield to enter the field of nutrition and continues to inspire her to help others make the best choices they can.

Veronica is a Licensed Nutritionist specializing in integrative and preventive nutrition. She is an honors graduate from Georgetown University and received her Master's degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport. Her professional experience includes

  • Teaching graduate-level nutrition courses at George Mason University as an Adjunct Faculty member
  • Providing nutrition counseling services for a national insurance company, both in English and Spanish
  • Offering individual nutrition consultation in a variety of settings
Veronica's goal is to improve outcomes by working in partnership with patients and health care providers (primary care and specialists). Nutrition therapies always begin with explaining principles of healthy eating, reducing inflammation, addressing GI dysfunction and correcting nutritional deficiencies. If atopic symptoms are present or in cases of immune dysregulation, food allergy testing may be warranted.
